Euro Strength in Foreign Currency Exchange Sparks Price Cuts in Eurozone Destinations

London, UK (PRWEB) May 31, 2009 -- The latest travel money (http://www.postoffice.co.uk/portal/po/jump1?mediaId=19300210&catId=19300207) Holiday Costs Barometer, a foreign currency (http://www.postoffice.co.uk/portal/po/jump1?mediaId=19300210&catId=19300207)survey produced by Post Office Travel Services, has revealed that Bulgaria, Turkey and Croatia, all non-euro destinations, are Europe's best buys for UK tourists this summer.

Post Office Travel Services' annual barometer, which compares the cost of tourist staples in eighteen foreign holiday destinations, confirmed Bulgaria as the best value destination with ten holiday items (including suncream, drinks and meals out) costing the equivalent of £42.23 in travel money. Turkey and Croatia came second and third respectively in Europe, both clocking in around £64 for the same basket of goods. France on the other hand came in much higher at £78.30, making it the most expensive eurozone country for travel money.

However, the barometer also revealed that some eurozone countries, such as Portugal, Italy and Greece, have dropped prices to offer tourists a better deal for their travel money.

Sarah Munro, Post Office head of travel services, said: "The eurozone has taken a bashing this year but our survey suggests that tourist outlets in many resorts are taking dramatic steps to encourage tourists. Despite the weak pound, this means that UK tourists who shop carefully could find that they get more than expected for their travel money."
